What is Survivor Care?
Healing from trauma is a deeply personal journey that requires ongoing support and access to essential resources. Many survivors face significant barriers to stability and independence. At Breaking Free, we walk alongside each individual, offering trauma-informed, personalized support to help them reclaim their lives and build a future on their own terms.
Our approach is grounded in the following core principles, ensuring that every survivor receives the comprehensive, compassionate support they deserve.
-
Trauma-Informed Care – Recognizing the lasting impact of trauma, services are designed to foster safety, trust, and empowerment while avoiding re-traumatization.
-
Survivor-Centered Approach – Survivors lead their own healing journey, with personalized support that respects their choices, autonomy, and unique needs.
-
Collaborative & Holistic Care – A network of service providers, including housing, legal advocacy, mental health, and substance abuse support, work together to address the full scope of a survivor’s needs.
-
Culturally Responsive Support – Programs honor diverse backgrounds and experiences, ensuring care is inclusive, respectful, and tailored to each survivor’s identity and lived experience.
Creating pathways for survivors
Breaking Free is committed to creating opportunities that support survivors in reclaiming their lives and building a future of stability, independence, and self-determination. We invest in their innate resilience by ensuring access to resources, education, and a strong support network.
-
Assessing Survivor Needs – Every survivor’s journey is unique. Through our intake process, we work closely with individuals to understand their immediate needs, strengths, and long-term goals, ensuring they receive the right support.
-
Developing Individualized Care Plans – Our advocates create tailored care plans that address housing, legal advocacy, trauma recovery, and personal development, ensuring survivors have a clear, structured path forward.
-
Facilitating Community Reintegration – We help survivors rebuild their lives by connecting them to safe housing, employment opportunities, educational programs, and peer support networks, reducing isolation and fostering belonging.
-
Promoting Self-Sufficiency – Through life skills training, job readiness programs, and financial literacy education, we equip survivors with the tools they need to achieve lasting independence and success.
